IMAGES CREATOR FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Working as a photographer and art director in advertising in Paris and New York, I've noticed that for models, the range of emotions is even more restricted than it is for other people as they “represent” brands. Images bombard us now more than ever in print and digital. There is a danger in communicating only with images; we define ourselves by them - and do so without a real awareness of the back story. Unfortunately, this triggers a lot of unhappiness. Although one notices higher levels of emotional expression in fashion images throughout the last 3 years, there is still a lot of progress to be made. I am committed to bring feelings to what I produce. Being a fashion photographer isn’t just pressing the shutter. I don’t ask myself if people will enjoy my work. Rather, what is important for me is to know that the audience and the next generation will look at my photos and think “it’s okay to have feelings and emotions”. That one doesn’t need to be a frozen beauty to be interesting or valued. If one day I become a mother, I want my children to know that I didn’t contribute to a superficial world but tried to convey fashion in an authentic way.

"It might sound small, but in reality it’s a real challenge to ask models to let go and be themselves because for years they have been constantly trained to “Be beautiful and Shut up”. Behind the camera Kimdary brings out their weaknesses, unique qualities, vices and emotions and have a strong will to show free moving bodies and personalities where boldness and visual accidents make up the details that catch the eye of the viewer. The artist carefully chooses each photo taken at the specific moment a model makes an offhand special expression, check the colors and ensure everything is well-balanced with the team. This is not about working alone. To her, everything works when the entire team has a great energy." - CAP74024
